Nextpage demos document retention at microsoft office 2007 launch event-ready for a new day launch tour in phoenix

NextPage to Discuss NextPage Document Retention; Application Manages Risk by Tracking Microsoft Office Documents on Desktops, Servers, Mobile Media and in Email

Draper, Utah – January 17, 2006– NextPage today announced that the company has been invited by Microsoft to demonstrate Document Retention today at the Microsoft Office 2007 launch – Ready for a New Day Launch Tour in Phoenix, AZ. The tour is comprised of seminars across the United States to introduce the new Windows Vista operating system, Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. During the “Connecting and Extending with Office Client Applications” session, NextPage will be the only Microsoft partner presenting, showcasing NextPage Document Retention, which is the only application that securely tracks versions of Microsoft Office documents across e-mail, hard drives, removable media and servers.

“This Microsoft venue is a great opportunity to demonstrate how well our unique enterprise application leverages the Microsoft Office systyem,” said Darren Lee, President and Chief Executive Officer of NextPage. “NextPage Document Retention is a simple, elegant solution to help alleviate the risk of documents that are created, stored and shared in the chaotic, ad hoc environment of the desktop.”

Capabilities of NextPage Document Retention include:

Automatically track document versions. With Document Retention, working copies of documents are automatically tracked as they are created, edited and finalized.
Seamlessly upload documents to a central repository. Once a document location is defined, users can automatically upload all document versions so the central repository can implement retention policies.
Send purge requests to delete appropriate documents. Now, because the location of all document versions are known, a team leader can send out the request to have users purge all working copies from the desktops, e-mail and removable media.
Provide the organization with an up-to-date status of documents under compliance. From the application, users can immediately see who has responded to the purge request and purged the documents and who still has copies sitting on their desktop.
Works with Lotus Notes and Microsoft Outlook clients and integrates with NextPage Data Services for shared drives, Lotus Notes databases and other centralized storage systems.

NextPage also worked extensively within Ecma TC45, the international task force assigned to develop the Open XML standard and NextPage CTO Tom Ngo edited Ecma’s white paper on the topic. The Open XML initiative was instigated to provide an open standard for word-processing documents, presentations, and spreadsheets that can be freely implemented by multiple applications on multiple platforms. NextPage will leverage its experience working on the Open XML standard as it adds more functionality to NextPage Document Retention.
