nextPage's vice President of Sales, james seeley, to speak at the 2006 ITA fall Collaborative

Seeley to Discuss Challenge of Document Retention and Disposal at the Desktop; Talks About Application that Securely Tracks Document Versions on Hard Drives and Mobile Storage

Draper, Utah – November 6, 2006– NextPage today announced that James Seeley, Vice President of Sales, will speak at the 2006 ITA Fall Collaborative, a conference that explores a wide range of current issues faced by IT and consulting professionals, at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday November 7th. In Seeley’s segment, “ECM – Document Retention and Destruction at the Desktop,” he will discuss the problems that enterprises face when trying to manage document versions that reside at the edge of the network, despite the existence of document retention policies and central storage solutions. He will also outline NextPage’s application, NextPage Document Retention, which has been designed to bring visibility into document versions on desktops and mobile media.

“Even though many large and medium enterprises have implemented a centralized storage system and a formal document disposal policy, recent research suggests that document management policies are failing at the desktop,” said Seeley. “In fact, our enterprise customers asked us to develop a solution to help manage documents at the desktop. Our NextPage Document Retention application is the result of working with customers to create a tool that bridges the gap between centralized storage systems and the desktop.”

NextPage Document Retention Brings Document Management to the Desktop

NextPage Document Retention is the only application that securely tracks versions of Microsoft Office documents across e-mail, hard drives, removable media and servers. This innovative approach to desktop document management makes it easy to purge working copies and post final versions to a central server for archival and lifecycle management. NextPage Document Retention's unrivaled technology works with Lotus Notes and Microsoft Outlook clients and integrates with NextPage Data Services for shared drives, Lotus Notes databases and other centralized storage systems.

Research Study Suggests Document Retention Policies Failing at Desktop

A recent IDG research study commissioned by NextPage and based on the responses of 108 IT professionals indicates that only 62 percent of the companies surveyed have a document retention policy in place. Of that 62 percent, only 31 percent actively enforce the policy and 61 percent responded that fewer than half of their employees are adhering to their published retention policies. Given that 80 percent of corporate documents typically exist on individual hard drives, document retention and deletion polices are failing to account for most of an organization's documents. This creates an unacceptable level of risk for consulting firms which may have earlier, working versions of client-related documents stored in email, removable drives or on hard drives. The 2006 ITA Fall Collaborative will be held at the Westin LaCantera Resort in San Antonio, Texas, November 5 – 7, 2006. This year’s forum includes key speakers on various ideas and theories to foster growth, informative roundtable discussions and networking opportunities to learn from experts in the industry.
